The work of the ISPG is important, both to our organization and our field.  We are so thankful for our dedicated committee chairs and members who generously lend us their time, talent, and expertise.  We could not do what we do without them! 

 

OUR COMMITTEES: 

Communications Committee

Committee Focus:

  • Liaison with all ISPG Committees to keep ISPG membership and community well informed on all activities and initiatives .
  • Increase online and social media presence & visibility.
  • Increase the visibility of ISPG to the public in multiple formats.

Early Career Investigator Program (ECIP) Committee

Committee Focus:

  • Foster year-round opportunities for Early Career Members to receive mentorship by expanding the current Early Career Investigator Program (ECIP)
  • Offer year-round career enhancement and leadership opportunities to members. 
  • Build on existing WCPG programs to provide networking and career-building opportunities 
  • Review and select 2021 ECIP Awardees.
  • Evaluate feedback from 2020 ECIP Awardees and determine if any program changes are needed.
  • Increase the number and promotional efforts of early career investigator activities during the WCPG. 

Education Committee

Committee Focus:

  • Produce members-only access to online materials. 
  • Analyzing existing collaborative partnerships to expand opportunities for scientific  and supportive collaborations. 
  • Develop list of new collaborators to broaden the scientific depth and reach of ISPG. 
  • Provide online curated catalog of vetted resources, links to evidenced-based information.
  • Offer year-round career enhancement and leadership opportunities to members. 
  • Create new, maintain/enhance existing programs to overcome socio-economic and geographic barriers for those dedicated to the field. 

Ethics, Position, and Policy Committee

Committee Focus:

  • Create a volunteer-monitored member portal to share information and resources of interest to the psychiatric genetics community.
  • Provide authoritative evidence-based papers & best practices for utilizing psychiatric genetics information while being transparent about what is established and what is controversial. 
  • Deliver exceptional and timely information at the WCPG.
  • Devise a rapid communication procedure that enables ISPG to quickly review an issue, decide if comment is needed, formulate statements with appropriate bioethics review, and approval by the board, and externally communicate.
  • Create a volunteer-monitored member portal to share information and resources of interest to the psychiatric genetics community.

Inclusion, Diversity, Equity in Action (IDEA) Committee

Committee Focus:

  • Establish regional/cultural member ambassadors. 
  • Set diversity goals for ISPG.
  • Create new, maintain/enhance existing programs to overcome socio-economic and geographic barriers for those dedicated to the field. 
  • Encourage the distribution of culturally sensitive ISPG scientific and society materials available.
  • Plan the Inclusivity and Diversity in Action (IDEA) Plenary at the WCPG.
  • Seek opportunities to fully realize the global network at the WCPG. 
  • Conduct analysis of the diversity of past and current membership, leadership, and conference attendees and speakers. 

Membership Committee

Committee Focus:

The ISPG Membership Committee focuses on creating an inclusive environment for our members across the globe, developing engaging programs and benefits, and helping members to connect and collaborate within the society. 

Committee focus:

  • Develop and articulate a membership value proposition based on the needs of the membership.
  • Highlight and promote member achievements throughout the year.
  • Provide means to establish affinity/interest groups on key topics of interest to members.
  • Develop organization-level memberships.
  • Review and select ISPG Honorific Awards recipients. 

World Congress of Psychiatric Genetics Program Committee (WCPG) The World Congress of Psychiatric Genetics Program Committee is tasked with developing the educational content for the meeting. They are responsible with recruiting the latest research and upholding high ethical standards.
